Cleansing Ritual

I blogged last week about energy fields and how they can influence our lives. Every time we interact with something, we leave behind a small energy imprint. Interact with the same object many times and the imprint becomes stronger; something that could be picked up by others who come in contact with that object later on. Maybe you’ve come across this before. That odd feeling you get when you pick up a toy or item from an antique store? Or even a ‘bad’ feeling about a place?

If you’ve bought stones or other instruments for ritual use, the first thing you must do is cleanse them, to get rid of these unwanted energy imprints. Especially if you’re working with crystals or stones. I have a simple cleansing ritual that takes four days. That sounds long but the actual ritual itself is just a few minutes each day. Each day you use a different element (earth, air, fire, water) to cleans the object. Day One; Earth. Place the object in the ground. Say a small prayer to the Lord and Lady (or whomever diety you worship). Leave the object buried in the ground for twenty-four hours. Envision the earth cleansing the object. Day Two: Dig up the object and cleanse it with incense or a smudge stick. Pass the object several times through the smoke, envisioning any negative energy as black smoke coming off the object. Day Three; Leave the object outside in a place where the sun will shine on it all day. Again, envision the negative energy burning off the object. Leave it outside for twenty-four hours. Day Four; Place the object in a bowl of water. Preferably spring water. If you use tap water, try to boil off as much of the chemicals as possible or use distilled water. Leave the object in the water for twenty-four hours.

Your object is now cleansed and ready for you to use. If these are ritual objects, they are ready for a full moon dedication.
