The Changes Have Started.

I’ve noticed over the last few days, the changes in the seasons have begun. It isn’t just the sun rising later in the morning, (although it’s nice to not hear the birds start at 4:30 every day), but other things, like my sedum blooms developing a pink hue, or how the nights are just that much cooler. I haven’t seen any trees turn yet, but the birds are starting to flock together. Not to mention my pumpkin and squash vines are losing their leaves. It feels as though summer just got here, and now it’s leaving. Not that I’m that upset, I love the smell of Autumn and wet leaves and smoke from woodstoves. Things feel crisp and clean, like after a thunderstorm. Especially out in the country.

  1. I’ve noticed this, too. For me, it’s a sense of autumn: of lightness and smells just slightly beyond reach of my physical senses. Autumn is my season… I’m attuned to it in a way that’s not like the other seasons.

It’s coming, and that always makes me feel hopeful.
