Mystical Wednesday: Are Animals Psychic?
Read this article and it got me thinking…
Anyone who’s owned an animal (or in the case of a cat, owned by a cat) will tell you there is something almost telepathic about the way animals communicate with each other. Movements and gestures dictate the hierarchy of the animal kingdom; movements that are then taught to humans. Yet are their communications skills so basic? There’s no doubt that animals of all kinds are intelligent beyond the traditional instincts, but have they developed the ability to know things ahead of time?
I’ve heard some scientists try to debunk this ability by stating that the animal’s natural sense are the cause for their apparent psychic abilities. One would argue that a dog, which has a keen sense of hearing, recognizes the sound of his master’s car, and because he can hear greater distances, would pick up this sound long before his owner returned home. Fine, but how do you explain how animals can predict earthquakes and other natural disasters?
Despite all our research, there is a lot about our animal friends that we don’t know. Frankly, I’m torn whether or not we should know. Some things are better left as mysteries.
What do you think?
