The Scents of Love

loveI know, Valentine’s Day was a couple weeks ago, but love happens at any time of the year, and we are still in the month of February.

There’s a lot that goes into formulating a pleasant scent. Just ask anyone who works in the perfume industry, but creating a scent that attracts another person can be a tricky thing. Likes and dislikes are determined by the individual, and it’s a known fact that gender can be a contributing factor is what we like to smell as well.

Pheromones were thought to be the driving force in men and women that attracted the opposite sex, but that might not be the case anymore.

Interesting, so if our own bodies can’t help us attract love, what are we to do? Well, there are other things that can help; natural scents that have been used for centuries. As far back and ancient Egypt. People have used combinations of plants and flowers for centuries to entice a romance, and many perfumes still have that natural connection.

Check out this list of scents.

Here’s an article that has more scents.

Scents don’t have to be of a romantic or sexual nature,

either. I love the scent of lilacs or lavender, and my nose can tell the difference between a natural and artificial scent.

What scent do you love?

  1. My favorite is lavender. I even wash my dogs with lavender shampoo.

The one time I don’t want to smell any perfume is in the yoga studio though. Sometimes people where body lotion and in a hot room it magnifies the scent a hundred fold. Makes me gag.
