Crystals and Gem Lore – Stones for Scorpio

With my series on birthstones over, I’ve decided to focus on gems and crystals that complement each of the zodiac signs. These stones are different from birthstones as they enhance the qualities of each symbol.

ScorpioFirst up is Scorpio. I know Aries is the first sign on the wheel, but the Pagan New Year begins in November.

Scorpio’s are charismatic, powerful, magnetic, and intense, but they can also be secretive and manipulative. They have a strong personality and a ‘do or die’ attitude. Scorpio is a water sign and they may benefit from crystals connected to water.

Abalone: Although not a crystal, abalone shell has been used for centuries in jewelry and carvings. This unique shell embodies all the aspects of the water element including lovebeauty, gentleness, caring, comfort, peacefulness, delight and solace It is soft to the touch from repeated tumbling in the sand and water. Abalone is useful for handling and calming emotional situations and is very soothing to the mind/body. A good stone to have for the intense personality of a Scorpio.

chalcedonyChalcedony: A type of Quartz, it helps ease self-doubts and makes one more reflective. This stone is known to absorb negative energy, eases bad dreams and it needn’t be cleaned afterward since it has such strong cleansing qualities of its own. It fosters the maternal instinct and is said to aid in lactation. This stone brings the body, mind and spirit into harmony.

pearlPearl: In tune with emotions, water, and women, especially pregnant women, pearls are a symbol of pure heart and mind; innocence and faith. Because it is from the sea, it has watery and lunar elements, therefore it is used for balancing emotions, especially for water sign.
