My Holiday Table (blog hop)

Every year my husband cooks Christmas dinner. He has it down to a science. It started when Sithboy was small and we hesitated going to my mother’s or my aunts as he would get cranky and tired, and it’s just easier to have everyone over to our place. One year we had both families out to our place. Wow, that was a dinner and a half. This year it was just us and my mother. Small and intimate. Just the way we like it.
The treat table. Top Row L to R: buttertarts (in the container with the blue lid), Quality Street chocolates (tin on top), molassus cookies, Toffeefay, Ferrero Roche.
Bottom row L to R: peanutbutter cookies, shortbread cookies, Pot of Gold chocolate and Aftereights.
Our Christmas tree. Yes, it’s purple. I’m going to save up and buy some black ornaments for it next year.
And finally,
Dinner consisted of roast turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, carrots, home-made cranberry sauce, buns, gravy and cheese. We forgot the pickles this year. Husband is watching his sodium content.
It’s so festive! The only thing I don’t have is festive silverware. I need another large bowl too.
Beautiful!
Thanks. I think next year I’ll have stuff on the wall behind.
The best part of Christmas dinner is having family at the table. And go-you for having hubby fix dinner!
Re: black ornaments
They were quite the rage this year. I saw a bunch of them at Walmart.
Husband cooks Thanksgiving and Christmas, even Easter dinner all the time. When we first started doing it at our house, we had a big group, so my job was to play host. Besides, I don’t think anyone trusted my cooking back then. 😛
Yes, I saw quite a few too. I’m thinking maybe more Gothic looking for next year. 😀
PS Your link will appear tomorrow morning on my blog.
Thank you, my dear!
It all looks so yummy. And pretty! 🙂
Thank you! It was yummy, and I still have a pile of treats left over. I don’t think I’ll make so much next year. We’re making turkey stock for soup with the carcass. It should keep for four months in the freezer.
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh man. You had so many sweets. We cut back on sweets this year and only had two different kinds of cookies
I know, but I can’t help it. Usually we have a nice size for dinner, but not this year. I really should take it easy next year. 😀
Thanks for stopping by!
Treats! Love the pink tint coming from the tree. 🙂
Pink? PINK! Heh…yeah…pink. My Goth side cringed a little. It looks really cool in the daylight.
I love your Christmas Tree plates! I hope to raid the local thrift shop next winter for some Christmas china, myself. They just don’t seem to make a lot of really pretty stuff anymore.
Thanks! We found them at Canadian Tire here. Like my other dishes, my holiday setting is very eclectic. 😀
