World Fantasy Convention; Day Three

Day Three and I am very tired. I’m not getting much sleep and I don’t know if it’s because I’m in a strange place, or the fact I hear every, single, thing. Ugh.
If you saw my post on Facebook, you know I made reference to a ‘ghost elevator’. I’m not kidding. If you know anyone else that attended WFC 2012, ask them. They’ll know what you’re talking about. The Sheridon has two elevators that go up to the tenth floor. The tenth floor is the place to be; it’s where the parties were and more importantly, the hospitality room where there is free food. After I posted my blog entry I decided I would check out the parties on this floor. I waited with several other people and got on with them.
Then came the ‘fun’ part. For a good six minutes, the elevator went up and down. Sometimes it would stop on a floor but the number displayed was wrong. So if you wanted the fourth floor, it would take you to the fifth, but it would say forth. Yeah, annoying. There were a couple times when the door closed, then opened and we were still on the same floor. My favourite was going all the way up to the tenth floor, stopping, and then going back down to the lobby. I got out and walked up ten flights of stairs. Oh, and the other elevator? It has a glass wall that faces the outside, and so no, I wasn’t a fan of that one either.
I ran into Brenda Carr and had a quick breakfast with a few of her WFC friends.
I did manage to get to the ghost panel this morning. Very good. From the sounds of it, ghost stories will never go out of style. This was the only one I attended. There was another Urban Fantasy one, but I’d gone to one already and the second felt like a repeat of the first.
Coolest thing about the whole day? I watched the Untold Press table while Jen Wylie and Sean Haden went to one of the panels. Well, Sean was on the panel and that’s cool. No one bought anything, but this lady walked by and took a picture of me sitting there. She ran off before I had a chance to tell her the vendors were at a panel and that I was just helping out.
As much as I loved being here, I’m really looking forward to going home.
